Nino Đula

Nino Đula is a Croatian journalist and artist, born in Dubrovnik and based in Zagreb.

Drawing developed alongside his work as a journalist — initially as a spontaneous record of people, places and situations encountered at work, while travelling, or simply in everyday life. Made quickly and intuitively, his drawings retain the immediacy of observation rather than seeking polished representation.

“We live in a world that is increasingly black and white. I draw to keep the level of colour in my blood.”

Portraits remain central to his work, alongside drawings of cities, interiors, objects and fragments of daily life. He works across different formats and materials, often using whatever happens to be at hand — from conventional paper to newspapers, notebooks, napkins and found surfaces.

In 2025, his work was presented in three solo exhibitions in Zagreb and Dubrovnik: Lica at Damir Sokić’s studio in Zagreb, Zapisi s radnog stola at the Marin Držić Theatre in Dubrovnik, and Zidine. Horizonti. at Galerija Kranjčar in Zagreb.
